Milton

According to Milton, how or why does truth become a heresy if a person believes things only because his pastor or government tells him so? Why does Milton find this practice dangerous?

Milton's Areopagitica demonstrates that Milton believed that truth came out only through censorship. Basically, people weren't allowed to think for themselves. Any truth that they received came through the government's perception of the truth. Which was censored. The people had to believe what the government told them to believe. Milton believed this was dangerous because people could never think for themselves. They all turned into sheep. The government had the power and the people had no room to progress. When the government is the only unit with power, it can get dangerous to the public.

  1. I completely agree with your stand point on Milton's censored truth. When people are told what to think and how to act they are being molded into what the government wants us to be, instead of what we want to be/ should be. Doing this is turning us into SHEEP.. I like that!
